Sage
At Sage, every piece of angling equipment we make is designed, tested and hand built with one goal in mind: Maximum fishability. It's a term we came up with a few years back to describe the kind of performance that helps you cast better, fish more effectively and have more fun. In short, every Sage rod, reel and line is specifically designed to help you make the most of your precious time on the water.
Some say Sage rods are legendary for their magical properties, their propensity for placing flies just above the ripple. We don't know about magic, but we do know that every Sage rod is made by hand and we make rods for anglers of every stripe...

ZXL Series

ZXL

The new ZXL rods are significantly lighter, stronger and easier to cast for everyone who enjoys the relaxed casting rhythm of a smooth progressive taper. Through the miracle of our G5 process, we were able to remove every gram of unnecessary material from each blank and replace traditional glass hoop fibers with lighter, more responsive graphite.

Ready to experience life on the smooth side?

Z-Axis Series

Z-Axis

We went back to the drawing board to create the incredible new Z-Axis Series Fast Action Rods. By improving the entire rod-building process, we created a rod that's significantly lighter, stronger and easier to cast for anglers of all skill levels. The Z-Axis offers an entirely new level of fishability with unprecedented line feel, response and performance. But don't take our word for it-visit a local fly shop and take it for a test spin.

TXL Series

TXL

Combine near weightlessness with a groundbreaking level of performance, and the result is our TXL Series rods. Through our exclusive Generation 5 Technology, we've built an amazingly light fly rod, while increasing strength, smoothness and sensitivity to "line feel." In angling terms, that means you'll cast better, fish more effectively and enjoy yourself more. We're especially proud to offer the TXL in the revolutionary 000, or "triple-ought" line weight.

TCR Series

TCR

We created the Technical Casting Rod (TCR) Series rods to push the boundaries of fast-action tapers and high line speed, while maintaining the all-important fishability. To be clear, these rods are not for the casual angler. The TCR Series is designed for skilled casters facing the most demanding conditions-where technical precision, distance and the ability to cut through wind are at a premium. Try a TCR-we think you'll be amazed.

BASS Series

BASS

After working with a small, tight-lipped group of serious bass anglers, we've developed two new rods that can drop a hair frog or an air-light diver with pinpoint accuracy and hardly a ripple on the water. From a fly fishing perspective, we’re talking about effortlessly pushing big, wind-resistant bugs into tight quarters. Available in two models, Smallmouth and Largemouth, both rods measure 7'11", which slides them just under the strict bass tournament rules for rod length. Additionally, both rods are sold with custom bass taper flylines and a travel case for protection.

When used outside the bass fishing world, we strongly recommend them for probing the mangroves or throwing huge flies for pike and muskies.

Xi2 Series

Xi2

No matter which saltwater challenges you face-from bonefish to billfish-Xi2 Series rods let you concentrate on the fish instead of your casting. Built with our innovative Generation 5 (G5) Technology, Xi2 rods feel lighter and livelier than other saltwater rods. The Modulus Positioning System (MPS) that we developed for these rods provides a startling level of "line feel" throughout the casting stroke. This enhanced ability to feel the rod load allows you to apply power more efficiently.

VT2 Series

VT2

Our VT2 Series rods are designed for maximum versatility, smooth performance and great value. Throughout the entire line, we've created a taper and action that best fits each specific line weight. VT2 Series rods provide a light, sensitive feel and an incredibly smooth power curve for faster line speed and easier casting. They also feature a gorgeous "blue ribbon" blue finish, titanium anodized aluminum reel seat hardware and British-made, hard chrome-plated guides.

Fli Series & Outfits

Fli

Our FLi Series rods are simply great fly rods. They combine a fast-action taper with an incredibly smooth power curve. Which means you'll be able to generate high line speed and still feel the rod loading for maximum power transfer and efficiencyfor a more natural and intuitive cast. FLi Series rods are built with a wider-diameter, thin-walled blank construction for fast recovery and lighter weight, and feature resin-impregnated wood reel seat inserts, British-made snake guides and high-grade Portuguese cork grips.

Launch Series & Outfits

Launch

Developing G5 Technology clearly demonstrated that the key to better casting is the ability to feel the rod load. With our Launch Series rods, we applied what we've learned to create a smooth, progressive power curve and an extremely high strength-to-weight ratio. This means Launch Series rods provide exceptional line connection or feel, allowing anglers to cast better and more easily.

Scott
At our company, there's a reason for doing what we do. We call it the Scott Difference. We see it every day at work, preach it to anyone within earshot and feel it in our flyrods every time we fish.
This mantra which we call the Scott Difference is embedded throughout our workshop and crammed underneath our fingernails at the end of each day. We preform this act of faith and worship towards detail because we know it eventually makes its way upstream to our dealers, and ultimately to you.
And even though your'll hear us talk about the Scott Difference, we actually can't take all the credit. It's a way of doing things that began with Harry Wilson when he started Scot back in 1974, and has been evolving in the hands of anyone who has made, sold, or fished Scott ever since. We see it as a 28-year-old heritage-in-process that doesn't sit around the workbench talking about how good the fishing used to be.
And when it's all said and done, we are rod makers and our goal is simple: To handcraft the ultimate fishing tool.
If our customers and friends can't see and feel what they're paying for then we don't charge for it. The Scott Difference is tangible, and we can point to it in every rod. The long list starts with hand fit internal ferrules, individual flex rating, custom graphite, and hand-turned Portugese cork grips, then keeps on going.
Like we said, it's all about a way of doing things, and it's all about how good the fishing's going to be. Now get out there.

R.L. Winston
OVER THE YEARS, Winston has used many different materials to build our fly rods, including bamboo, fiberglass, various types of graphite and now, our second generation boron/graphite composite.
And while a primary goal of the company has been to constantly improve upon and evolve the fly rod itself, one thing has never changed: our dedication to making not just the best performing fly fishing rods in the world, but the most beautiful.
AT WINSTON, we take a great deal of pride in the quality and craftsmanship of our fly rods. Pick up an LT-5, for example, and you’ll be holding a rod with a flawless finish, precisely aligned snake and stripping guides, a grip that’s been sanded by hand and a reel seat made with the finest components and engraved with the Winston logo. All Winston rods undergo multiple inspections for quality, and all come with an unconditional lifetime guarantee.

Boron II-MX

Introducing the fresh and saltwater Boron II-MX series. MX stands for maximum, as in maximum power, distance and fish fighting capabilities. The 5 and 6-weights are slightly stiffer and faster than their Boron IIx counterparts; the 7 through 12-weights are true “guns” that can handle sinking lines, big flies and adverse wind conditions. While all seven models feature faster actions and are capable of making long distance, 100+ foot casts, they will amaze you with their responsiveness and light weight. The rods come with a cork fighting butt and our new double locking reel seat. Whether you’re chucking 6'' long “grocery” flies or battling fly rod humbling winds, a Boron II-MX will get the job done.

Boron IIT

Innovation meets tradition. Introduced last year, the Boron IIt series proved that advanced boron technology could be used to create exceptional medium-action fly rods. With this series, we moved our proven, second-generation boron in a whole new direction, with extraordinarily lightweight rods that combine the powerful, highly responsive characteristics of Boron II with the legendary smoothness and delicacy of our more traditional-action rods. At Winston, we fully recognize that many people enjoy fishing for trout with medium-action rods. Our Boron IIt series is a true breakthrough for such anglers.

Boron IIX

BORON IIx RODS HAVE REDEFINED THE FAST-ACTION CATEGORY. A common flaw in most fast-action designs is a lack of casting range; the rods are often hard to load at short distances and even at longer range can be clumsy due to overly stiff butt sections. The Boron IIx series has changed everything. These are responsive, powerful, highly accurate fly rods that perform across a wide casting range; they load easily for gentle presentations up close, yet can also make very long, pinpoint casts of 100 feet. To date, across the board, Boron IIx rods (as well as Boron IIt rods) are the lightest in the industry. This makes for very pleasant, all-day casting, even with the 10 and 12-weights. We urge you to cast a Boron IIx today. You will be amazed.

LT 5 - Piece

OUR SMOOTH-CASTING, 5-PIECE LT RODS SERIES fish wonderfully and travel exceptionally well. This series sets the standard for multiple section rods. They have soft tips, actions that are slightly faster and crisper than our WT series and, of course, the distinctive feel found only in a Winston. The 5-section design features our internal spigot ferrule system, which ensures that the taper and internal diameter of one section of the rod exactly matches that of the adjoining section. The performance of these rods is unmatched in the category; a LT 5-piece is a great choice, whether you’re hiking into a backcountry lake, going to New Zealand for a few weeks or just heading out on your home waters.

WT

THE VAST MAJORITY OF TROUT FISHING SITUATIONS involve casts of less than 60 feet, usually far shorter. And when you’re working a fish closer in, success often depends on your ability to make gentle, delicate, accurate presentations. For this reason, many experienced anglers consider our WT rods to be the perfect choice for such fishing. With progressive tapers, they work nicely at close distances yet can make longer casts when needed. Proven on trout waters worldwide, these medium action graphite rods are incredibly smooth, offer wonderful touch and feel, and the tips are soft enough to protect 6x and 7x tippets while playing large trout.

Vapor

Our Vapor rods offer true high performance for under $300. These four-piece, fast-action rods are lightweight, responsive and have a wide casting range, allowing you to make gentle presentations up close or, when the need arises, to cast long distances. Vapor rods feature a metallic olive green finish, matching aluminum rod tube and rod bag, and an Unconditional Lifetime Guarantee.

Ascent

Offering exceptional performance and quality for the price, our Ascent rods are a great way for entry-level or intermediate anglers to become part of the Winston family. These 4-piece rods have a smooth, faster action and are easy to cast. They feature a champagne/russet metallic finish, beautiful reel seat components and, like all Winstons, an Unconditional Lifetime Guarantee.

Bamboo

Since 1929, Winston has been synonymous with fine bamboo rods, and our commitment to this natural material is stronger than ever. Fishing our bamboo rods is one of the great experiences in angling; they have a wonderful slow action and feature incredible touch and feel, plus superb line and loop control. Bamboo rod building is a cumulative process. Years of testing, design refinements, study and knowledge that has been passed down through the years go into every one. Each rod can take up to a year to build. Winston bamboo rods are more than things of beauty; they are extraordinary fishing instruments.

Two Handed (Spey) Rods

THESE RODS ARE DESIGNED to meet the special requirements of steelhead and salmon anglers. Namely, covering lots of water, making precise mends and casting considerable distances. Boron IIx spey rods were created with the assistance of our technical advisor Andre Scholz, one of the leading spey casters in the world. Made with our second-generation boron/graphite composite, these incredibly lightweight spey rods offer extraordinary power, responsiveness and accuracy, and are a pleasure to cast all day. Vapor models are superb quality rods that provide an excellent way to begin spey casting or add to your collection. All spey rods come with a copy of our new DVD, “Introduction to Spey Casting with Andre Scholz.”
